Dealer Spotlight: Vintage Addiction

Hello chickadees! The fall Antiques & Old Stuff Show is just three weeks away and we are busy as bees to ensure everything is perfect. We are excited to bring back our Dealer Spotlights to get you ready for the fall show! Our favorite part of antiques are the stories that are behind each piece. We love our dealers because they have their own inspirational back stories as well. Learn more about a long-time dealer, Steve from Vintage Addiction, and his family’s wonderful story of how their passion for antiques intertwine with their dedication to philanthropy.

How did your passion for antiques first start?

It’s actually quite simple. My wife, Alesia, and I first decided to start Vintage Addiction as a way to reunite our family. Alesia, and our girls lived in Southern California to allow my daughter to pursue a dream while I worked and lived in Virginia to support it. After nearly seven years of bicoastal commuting every two weeks or so, we decided to make some changes. We had both done the large corporate gig for over twenty years, but decided the next journey would be our own and on our own terms.

How would you describe your antique style?

Our designs and pieces are mostly vintage-inspired creations. Some of our items use vintage components and many are repurposed designs with architectural salvage. When we travel and find beautiful vintage furnishings, we just can’t pass up their beauty!

What makes Vintage Addiction unique?

When we first set out on our business venture, we wanted to create something that we could pour our passion into while still growing a company with a conscience. We strive to be environmentally sensitive by creatively repurposing items and giving back to the community.

How do you ensure that Vintage Addiction is a “company with a conscience?” We are very involved and spend a lot of time hand-selecting every single piece of each product and each of our suppliers. We wish to ensure our artisans make livable wages and are proud to set up scholarships to provide quality English language educations for their children. We know we can’t solve all the world’s problems (we wish we could) but we can do our part and hopefully improve the lives of the families we have come to know and cherish along our life’s journey.

What can shoppers expect to find at your booth at the fall show?

While our repurposed items are a huge hit, we love to bring along our own brand of high-quality ladies’ handbags, furniture, and home accessories.

What items are you most excited to bring to the Antiques & Old Stuff Show?

One of our favorite items that will be joining us at this show are our watering cans. We first work with a manufacturer to create new designs made of recycled metal for each watering can. Once the design is complete, we then work with a women’s co-op group who hand paints every single watering can we carry! When we sell each watering can, it warms our heart to know we are helping those women earn wages and help support their families.
