I'm so excited to be joining the Three Speckled Hens Show for a seventh time in October! I am Samantha of Colony House Antiques. I have been an antiques and uniques dealer since I was 18 years old. Several decades on, I still love this business. I particularly enjoy the fun of pursuing that truly unique find --the find that will make that truly amazing customer happy.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1970s and some of my earliest memories are of going to the San Jose swap meet with my older brother. I remember being a little girl and purchasing a set of juice glasses to give to my aunt for Christmas. She absolutely loved them, and when I was much older and left with the task of going through her things, I found them still in her cupboard, obviously much used and loved. I think that is my goal when I am selecting and acquiring things to offer my customers. I hope that each item, no matter how big or small, might bring a happy recollection of a much-loved person, event, or place, or might be an item that by its own individuality will bring a happy smile.
I am also blessed to share in this business with my husband Dirk. He has a real love of Americana family fun from the 50's,60's, and 70's and happily brings to his customers anything arcade, circus and carnival, or roadside attraction related.
As much as we enjoy that amazing item, we enjoy our amazing customers and meeting all you wonderful people! So come on by, sit for a spell, or play a round of pinball. We'll see you at the Show!
