As you may know, our fall show will feature over 140 dealers from all over California. So we are here to introduce you to a few of them prior to the show through our Dealer Spotlight Series. We welcome you to get acquainted with these marvelous merchants as they share their passion for antiques during our one-on-one interviews.
For our first Dealer Spotlight, we would like to introduce you to Grenouille French Antiques. Natives of France, siblings Frederic and Coco have been selling French vintage treasures on the West Coast for the past two decades. Read on to discover how this duo finds the most unique treasures and how they share these finds with their customers.
Tell us a little about yourselves and how you got started in the antiques business.
Coco: My brother and I are originally from France and have always had a love for antiques.
Frederic: Our mother even used to say that rust ran through our veins.
Coco: We followed our passion and began selling about 20 years ago. We now own a showroom in San Francisco and attend numerous shows and flea markets on the West Coast including the Los Angeles Gift Show, San Francisco Gift Show, Las Vegas Gift Show and, of course, the Three Speckled Hens!
Where do you find the majority of your treasures?
Frederick: We do our own buying in France with a focus on finding beautiful items for the home and garden. We bring in about four to five containers to San Francisco each year. We like to post photos of our latest inventory on our website, GrenouilleFrenchAntiques.com.
Can you share what a buying day is like in the life of Frederick and Coco?
Frederick: Well, a typical buying day in France will begin after a croissant and an espresso! Then we hop into our van and hit a few flea markets and garage sales. We will go anywhere we know we will find perfect items for the home and garden.
Coco: We take our time searching for the right pieces because we strongly believe that the life and story of an object is as important as the object itself.
What is the best way for your fans to get their hands on your latest finds?
Coco: We do sell both wholesale and retail from our showroom as well as online, but our fans are encouraged to come out and visit with us at one of the many shows we attend throughout the year. We love what we do and it shows when you meet us!
