Today on our Dealer Spotlight we are cozying up with Lyn Lochridge of Homeplace. Homeplace offers recycled, refinished and repurposed vintage and cottage collectibles for your home and garden. We interviewed Lyn to learn more about how she developed her love of antiquing and the unique farmhouse style she brings to her pieces.
How did Homeplace come to life?
I have loved antiques and old things most of my life. After leaving my full-time job about ten years ago, I started repairing, refinishing and painting old furniture not knowing what I would do with it. I began selling a few items out of my garage and the occasional vintage pop-up shop. I jumped at the opportunity to become a dealer at the Three Speckled Hens’ first show in Templeton, and here we are today!
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I have met so many amazing, creative people on this journey; but more than anything, I look forward to the road trips! Hunting for the next found treasure has led my husband and I on some very memorable adventures.
Your husband, is he a “junker” too?
My husband is always game for a good road trip to help me find the next truckload of goodies.
Did you pass down the antiquing gene?
When the Hens’ shows come around, I can always count on having the help of my two wonderful daughters. I think this "old stuff" has rubbed off on all of my children.
We’ve been talking a lot about gal pals lately. Do you have any gal pals that inspire you?
I've been inspired by several of my friends who are the best gatherers I know. I've learned a lot from them by watching, listening and just having fun. A few years ago we were fortunate enough to take a trip to Round Top, Texas. We stayed in an old farmhouse and picked to our hearts desire! The experience was unforgettable!
That sounds like a dream come true! Do the items you pick end up in your home?
Vintage cottage farmhouse style is abound in my home. It's simple and comfortable. I love old cupboards, rustic farm collectibles and items with lots of charm and history. This is what I try to bring to my customers. You can never have too many old galvanized washtubs, nesting boxes, buckets or watering cans! Everyone has their own personal style, and they should find what they truly love.
